Meet Our Dentist,

Garrett Oka, DDS

A native of Hawaii, Dr. Oka is an alumnus of the Kamehameha School. He earned his bachelor's degree at Creighton University, and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Creighton University School of Dentistry. Dr. Oka understands the importance of continued education and has received advanced training in implant dentistry and oral sedation.

Dr. Oka is proud to be a member of the American Dental Association.

The Importance of Visiting Our Dentist On a Regular Basis

If you generally have healthy teeth, no toothaches, and follow common preventative dental care measures, you may wonder why you need to see a dentist. Even those with seemingly healthy smiles can benefit from a visit, which is why we recommend Kailua-Kona patients visit us every six months. We offer:

Care for Oral Health

Tooth decay and gum disease don't always show painful and apparent symptoms when they first begin to develop. Seeing the dentist regularly can ensure that your oral health problems are addressed and treated in the early stages, avoiding serious issues later on.

Risk
Assessment

Through X-rays and a thorough examination, Dr. Oka can assess your risk of developing various oral health problems. Once this is assessed, our Kona dentist can recommend fluoride, deep cleanings, and other preventative measures to keep your oral health in top shape.

Beautiful New Smiles

At Sweet Tooth Dental, we help patients maintain a healthy smile free of gum disease, tooth decay, and other oral health problems. We also offer cosmetic dentistry procedures, like dental implants and teeth whitening, to give you a smile that is healthy and beautiful.

New to Sweet Tooth Dental? What to Expect at Your First Visit

Paperwork

When you first arrive, you will need to fill out your new patient forms if you did not complete them at home. Please arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment time. Don't forget your ID and insurance card. If you have records or images from a previous dentist, please bring these with you, or let us know when you schedule your appointment so we can obtain them before your visit.

X-Rays

If you do not have recent images, your dental team may take X-rays before your dentist examines you. This gives us a more in-depth view of your mouth and overall health.

Exam

Your dentist will perform an exam. If any issues are present, he will note them and develop a custom treatment plan to help you achieve optimal oral health and function. He will discuss any goals or concerns you have regarding your smile.

Cleaning

If you are visiting for a routine cleaning, one of our skilled hygienists will remove plaque and tarter and polish your teeth.

Scheduling

If you need further care, we can schedule future appointments before you leave out Kailua-Kona office. We can also help you plan out your next exam and cleaning.

Have questions or concerns about your first visit or need to request an appointment? Fill out our online form, and a member of our dedicated team will contact you to schedule an appointment. You can also call our dental office in Kailua-Kona, HI, at:

Our Specialities

Dental implants model

Dental Implants

Living with a missing tooth can cause feelings of self-consciousness and make eating and speaking difficult. Missing teeth also have a negative impact on your health. Our Kailua-Kona dentist can help you replace missing teeth with dental implants. Dental implants work just like natural tooth roots and provide unmatched stability for dental restorations such as bridges, crowns, or dentures.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Even patients with the best oral hygiene and great dental health can want whiter, brighter, or straighter teeth. Cosmetic dentistry by Dr. Oka can dramatically transform the look of your smile. We offer custom-designed cosmetic treatment plans to realize your goals. Treatments include porcelain veneers, dental bonding, and teeth whitening.

Teeth Whitening

Want to brighten your smile? Our Kailua-Kona dentist offers professional teeth whitening kits. This allows you to achieve a dramatically whitened smile from the comfort of your own home. Our dentist will first take impressions of your teeth to craft custom molds. Custom trays ensure the powerful whitening solution covers the surface of your teeth, but not your gums.

Veneers on a leaf

Veneers

With dental veneers, you can quickly and effectively achieve a picture-perfect smile. These ultra-thin porcelain shells can conceal misaligned teeth, gaps, chips, cracks, and intrinsic stains that don't respond to professional teeth whitening. The advanced ceramic used in porcelain veneers mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural tooth enamel and can be color-matched to blend with your surrounding teeth.

Dental crown on a leaf

Dental Crowns

Teeth that have been compromised by trauma or decay can be restored with a dental crown. Treatment with a dental crown can protect a tooth from further damage and can help prevent the need for extraction. The medical-grade materials in our dental crowns can be color-matched to blend seamlessly with the natural teeth in your smile. Our Kailua-Kona office features an advanced CEREC® machine that allows our dentist to create a custom-fitted crown in less than an hour.

ClearCorrect

The ClearCorrect® system is a great option for Kona patients who would like straighter teeth but put off by the thought of wearing bulky metal braces. Using a series of removable clear aligner trays to gently adjust your bite, ClearCorrect provides all of the advantages of braces without the restrictions. Learn more about the advantages of this orthodontic option during a visit to our Kailua-Kona office.

Our State-of-the-Art Technology

Makes Your Treatment Easier

3D Printer

An in-office SprintRay 3D Printer gives our dentist the ability to print temporary acrylic dentures and night guards that fit your teeth perfectly. Dr. Oka can also print custom-made surgical guides to ensure dental implants are placed in the optimal positions within your mouth.

CEREC

Forget messy impressions, the hassle of dealing with a temporary crown, and the inconvenience of a follow-up appointment to place a final crown. With the revolutionary CEREC milling system, our Kailua-Kona dentist can restore a compromised tooth with a permanent crown in a single appointment.

Cone-Beam Imaging

Our Dentsply Sirona CBCT X-ray machine gives our dentist a three-dimensional image of your teeth and soft tissues. This allows Dr. Oka to precisely plan treatments so that patients can spend less time at the dentist, experience reduced recovery times, and receive the most accurate care.
